To sign up as a captain to host an event on your own boat, follow these basic instructions to sign up.
Go to http://www.HotBoatDeals.com/ click on register at the top right corner to create a FREE member account. Your account is needed so we can identify you when you come to the website. Or, if you find that site too confusing and only want to simply participate in only the BOASTY event, click on http://DOIT.BOASTY.org/ and follow the menu steps that go down the middle of the navigation bar. Everything else should be simpler and easy to get through. Also, once you do it there, the actual host site (hotboatdeals.com) could be easier for you to work with.
Verify that your email works by activating your account by clicking the activation link sent to the email address you provided during registration.
Login using your email address as the username and your password.
Check to see if your on water location is listed. If not add it. this is your boat launch location or rather where you would be picking up your passengers. IE... your dock, boat launch, marina, etc...
Add your boat/yacht/sailboat profile so your guests will know what kind of boat you will be taking them out on (your profile can be added by pulling down the mysite menu).
Go back to the BOASTY event detail page and Click "sign up as a host". The link at the top right of the page. Select your vehicle profile, start location, Date and then describe your boat outing experience.
Once you are signed up as a host, your offering will be shown on the website till your vehicle occupant capacity is accepted and filled. Then your offering will not allow anyone else to sign up as a guest on your boat. As guests sign up to go out with you, an email message notifying you of their request will be sent to your message inbox as well as your email address if email notifications are turned on.
You will then have the ability to view their profile and to see if you have an interest/connection with them. As you accept their request, your occupant capacity will be updated till your boat is full.
Immediately after accepting their request, you will be able to then see their name, phone, and email in addition to the request information. It will then be up to you to contact your guests directly and inform them of where to meet up with you for your day on the water.
